Great gym, mainly go there for the classes the personal trainers are all friendly and lovely. I would recommend not going for the year membership like I did. Do a month when they have an offer on and see how you get on. I dived right in and only lasted 3 months at best. It gets 3 stars because trying to contact to cancel took ages. I mean AGES. I called a number I found on their social media, nowhere on there site. Called them and took half an hour to get through, they advised to call another number as its changed, called the other number, an hour later I while waiting on hold and the auto response saying 'you can email us and we'll respond within 24 hours' I got a voice mail so I email and get another auto response saying they'll respond in '48 hours' however they've been busy so they'll try to respond in '72 hours' nearly a week later I get nothing. I cancel my direct debit and get a response (there's the way to cancel and get attention) and finally after a couple days get confirmation of cancellation. So yeah.. If you're wanting to cancel that's the route you go down.
JD Gym in Derby, is it good? It is spacious - it has several big class rooms and a massive area filled with free weights and machines. It also has a great variety of those machines and weights, so that you are able to diversify your routine whenever you want it or if you get bored. It is clean and well maintained. The membership is without strings attached and very well priced for all of the things above. The staff and trainers are warm, competent and helpful. Even the music is great! And finally, it has a beautiful sauna which leaves you relaxed and piping HOT. Now you'd expect a gym like this to have cold water in a shower, right? You couldn't be more wrong! The miserable push button showers do not have adjustable water temperature and can go on for no more than 3 seconds before you have to press the button again (P.S. Water from the taps in the toilet area can go on for minutes) Such a heartbreaker! Make JD great again!

The manager was at JD gym was off duty came up & said you cant bring your bag into the gym even though Ive brought my small bag containing my boxing gloves & rope etc many times & you see many other members come in the gym with bigger bags.Ive felt harassed by this manager as it was the second time, so I made the point that you are picking on me but not other members with bags so I made the point cancell my membership on the same night & I know it wouldnt matter JD gyms.Clearly the off duty manger thinks he was above everyone, rant over.
