This used to be such a lovely airport. I've had nothing but hassle and a really bad experience the last three times I've travelled from this airport. The final straw for me was coming back Sunday night (27.01.19) where we were delayed getting off the plane as we were waiting for the transfer buses. Why when we were the only plane that arrived there was a delay?? Then we had to queue in the freezing cold to get into passport control! In this day and age it's just not acceptable. Then the joys of the new passport self scanner...what an absolute joke these are! Five scanners for the whole plane! There was one obnoxious man who reminded me of the SS guard at Auschwitz. He was on desk 5. I've never witnessed someone so rude. He was just seeing the odd passenger through. I know the desk was for 'non EU travellers' but why the bloody hell not try and help the congestion. Please feel free to review the footage from your own cctv. We landed at 23.40hrs 27.01.19. Nice to see this man with his back to the passengers chatting to his work colleague. My wife, son and myself couldn't get the scanner to work and had to endure this vile man. Well done East Midlands airport, I will never travel from this airport again. I wouldn't rate you 1star!!
Zero stars. EMA treats passengers as a nuisance from departures to arrivals. Obviously insufficent ground staff and lack of customer service training. Horrendous queue to check in for holiday flight ( we nearly missed our flight despite arriving more than 2 hours before departure) and coming back it took an hour to get through passport control. I have travelled extensively and this is by far the worst run airport I have ever used. Has anyone from EMA management got the courage to respond to the many negative comments in the reviews.
Very straight forward departure and comfortable arrival too. Bus from aircraft to terminal, then really quick passport control and lastly bus to long stay car park. From touchdown to getting in my car in 30 minutes, very little walking required in general
always had good service when using the airport ,skipped check in as always done it online so gone straight through to security area , have set the security alarm off due to leaving watch on , staff was pleasant and prompt when doing the post checks , there has been been a queue but it cleared quickly, plenty of shops where you can get something to eat or drink before flight , the only downside is that you have to pay 2 to pick somebody up or drop them off when It could be free and only charge once you've gone over 10 mins waiting
Mid stay car parks close enough to walk to terminal. Check in is fairly quick. Fast track security worth doing but line for security does move. Decent choice of paces to eat and drink while waiting. Coming back landed just after 2 am, same time as another 2 planes (I think). Off the plane, through passport control and in the can within an hour of landing!
